The 10th edition of the International Photography Festival 'Expojer' honors the Greek capital, Athens, as a guest of honor. The exhibition titled 'Athens Space' is a visual experience featuring over 140 works by six visual artists. It presents a visual narrative that captures the city's features and stories, evoking its civilizational memory. Athens' pavilion is part of the 'Spaces' section, dedicated to photographic storytelling. Through this, the festival presents exhibitions as comprehensive cultural systems that the visitor experiences as a single story, not as separate artworks displayed side by side. During the festival, organized by the Sharjah Government Media Office in the Al-Jadaa area from January 29 to February 4, 2026, 'Athens Space' will showcase works that have gained international recognition. They address profound human themes, documenting the lives of marginalized communities, highlighting efforts to preserve identity, and tracking the human impact of social changes. The six exhibitions in 'Athens Space' shed light on the social and emotional diversity of the Greek people, from nomadic herding families and immigrant neighborhoods to communities shaped by religious rites, customs, faith, and shared memory. The 2026 edition of 'Expojer' brings together over 420 photographers, filmmakers, and visual artists for more than 570 events.
