The national team in jiu-jitsu, under the guidance of Mubadala Investment Company, won seven medals (two gold, three silver, and two bronze) at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship, which is currently taking place in the city of Irbil, Iraq, and will continue until November 4.
The two gold medals were won by Omar Al-Suvadi in the weight category of 56 kg and Khalid Al-Shuhaib in the weight category of 62 kg. The three silver medals were secured by Balkis Al-Hashmi (45 kg), Zayd Al-Katari (56 kg), and Muhammed Al-Suvadi (69 kg). Aisha Al-Shamsi (45 kg) and Maisa Al-Sharif (48 kg) won two bronze medals.
The General Secretary of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Fahd Ali, stated in an interview: "The achievements of our athletes and the successful acquisition of a significant number of medals strengthen the chances of the national team to retain its title." The training and preparation periods had a decisive importance for honing the athletes' skills, improving their physical and mental readiness.
