Three migrants drowned after their wooden boat capsized off the coast of Gavdos island, located in the far south of Greece. Gavdos is the southernmost island of Greece and lies 48 nautical miles south of the city of Chania. According to officials, the incident occurred on Saturday. Authorities are currently conducting search and rescue operations to find the missing. This incident once again highlights the risks faced by migrants when attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea.
